11/28/2023 0 Comments J. river media center vs jukeboxJRMC can do WebPlay and stream to iDevices or Android devices.Ĭost is very reasonable considering how integral it has become to my music system. Media Center can be run as a server that other J River Media Center clients can connect to. There's lots of server and client options built in. One zone could be the sound card in your computer, another zone could be a DLNA device connected on your home network, and another zone could be another computer running J River Media Center. You can play multiple sound devices from the same computer with each device in its own zone. There's options for setting a delay so zones sound in sync. Each zone can be playing the same music or different music. Lots of options in the software for music throughout the house. The latest version also has a new option called Play Doctor which creates dynamically created playlists based on similar artists and recommendation algorithms. It can play dynamically created playlists which J River calls Smartlists. It can play standard playlists that you define. I don't know if JRiver or Foobar is capable for home server use but if so, then I will take a look at this further. Not sure how it does with playlist customizing and checking to see if it supports ASIO playback as well.Īt some point soon I will be redoing all of my audio collection (including vinyl) and putting everything on a server I will build where I can play my music throughout the house. I haven't really tried Foobar but have read that it was pretty good and supports gapless playback as well as crossfades. I also read that the full version supports ASIO and WASAPI playback so could use the Emu 1616m card for playback. But I don't need the video component of the full version of JRiver since I use other software for my video needs. I downloaded the main software as a trial to see how I like it and so far am impressed with all the options. JRiver has a free app known as their Media Jukebox. One software that tends to do this well is SAM Broadcaster though its more for internet radio station use. My end goal is to have my entire audio collection play continuously, similar to that as of a radio station except I don't have to be bothered with interruptions and commercials. I need some opinions and thoughts on what would make a good player with Foobar against JRiver.
